Marion County Cadet Honor Guard
welcomes back the Honor Flight to Ocala

Cadets from Marion County Composite Squadron gather at the Ocala Airport on the 28th of October to welcome back the Miami Air’s 737  carrying the veterans of World War 2 back from Washington DC on the second Honor Flight from the Ocala area
The Honor Flight brings World War 2 veterans to Washington DC to visit the World War 2 Memorial. Many in the 70’s and 80’s would never have that opportunity if not for the Honor Flight Association
The Cadets along with Officers and the Squadron’s Color Guard, looked up into the sky, awaiting the arrival of the jet that is carrying the veterans back to Ocala
Then the landing lights appeared in the distance. After it landed, the 737 taxied thru a spray of water from 2 Fire trucks as they waited for the jet to stop in front of the Airport Terminal and the stair ramp moved up to the jet. The Honor Guard  came to attention and marched up to the ramp, faced inward, awaiting the veterans to disembark the aircraft,
As the veterans disembark and walked down the stairs, the Honor Guard went to Present Arms. The veterans’ faces showed their pleasure of such an unusual reception with Well Done, Thanks and God Bless.
After the last veteran walked down the ramp followed by Major Morey Deen, US Army Retired, the Honor Flight Coordinator, they marched off.
As the cadets marched off, many the veterans walked up too them and shook hands with many of them for their reception.
The cadets departed to meet with their parents and go home after a most delightful experience, as they all had school the next day.
